IELTS Writing - Pen or Pencil?

People sometimes ask whether it's better to use pen or pencil in the IELTS Writing exam.

Our teachers recommend pencil. This is because one of the crucial steps in completing either Task One or Task Two essays is the proof-reading step. It's much easier to pick up and correct a simple grammatical or spelling error if you've written in pencil.

And you won't be penalized for not using a pen.
